DESCRIPTION:One of the largest fireworks displays in the area is slated for this year's July 4th celebration at Pekin's Memorial Stadium. This will be the 61st year the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the fireworks event\, which will be held Friday\, July 4th\, with a rain date of July 5th. The program will feature unique ground pieces viewable only from inside the stadium\, and more than 700 aerials. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. Before the fireworks begin\, those in the stadium will enjoy local bands and other entertainment. The fireworks display is scheduled to begin around 9:15 p.m.  Donations for entry into the stadium will be $5.00 for adults and $1.00 for children 6-12\, with children 5 and under free. No coolers will be allowed inside the stadium\, however\, blankets and lawn chairs are allowed on the field. Fun food and Coke products will be sold. Glow sticks and special viewing glasses will be available.
